Reflection: Words of Isaiah

A couple of weeks ago I started my journey through Beth Moore's Breaking Free bible study. What perfect timing to be reminded of the prophet Isaiah's prophecy of the cross. I can think of no better words to penetrate our hearts for Easter.

"See, my servant will prosper; he will be highly exalted. Many were amazed when they saw him beaten and bloodied, so disfigured one would scarcely know he was a person. And he will again startle many nations. Kings will stand speechless in his presence. For they will see what they had not previously been told about; they will understand what they had not heard about.

Who has believed our message? To whom will the Lord reveal his saving power? My servant grew up in the Lord's presence like a tender green shoot, sprouting from a root in dry and sterile ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him. He was despised and rejected a man of sorrows, acquainted with bitterest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way when he went by. He was despised, and we did not care.

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God for his own sins! But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed! All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the guilt and sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. From prison and trial they led him away to his death. But who among the people realized that he was dying for their sins that he was suffering their punishment? He had done no wrong, and he never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man's grave.

But it was the Lord's good plan to crush him and fill him with grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have a multitude of children, many heirs. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord's plan will prosper in his hands. When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of what he has experienced, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. I will give him the honors of one who is mighty and great, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among those who were sinners. He bore the sins of many and interceded for sinners." Isaiah 52:13 - 53:12 (NLT)

God Made ME! And God Made Jesus!

With Easter approaching we learned

Photobucket

and God Made Jesus!!

He is not here. He has risen, just as He said.  Matthew 28:6

We learned about the pain, love, and hope found in our loving Savior in the jelly bean prayer
 The poem reads:
Red is for the blood He gave.
Green is for the grass He made.
Yellow is for the sun so bright.
Orange is for the edge of night.
Black is for the sins we made.
White is for the grace He gave.
Purple is for His hour of sorrow.
Pink is for a new tomorrow.
And handful of jelly beans,
Colorful and sweet,
Is a prayer, a promise,
A loved one’s treat!
Happy Resurrection Sunday!

We watched our new Easter movie and read our new book

We used ribbon to lace  He Is Risen!,

We did an online coloring of The Empty Tomb (who knew !!!)
We learned about Resurrection Eggs and used this fun printable

We also learned lots about eggs, bunny rabbits, and everything else fun for this season.
We colored with chalk in the shape of eggs
We made a bunny out of paper plates,  planted Zinna's in our egg pot, had a bunny snack and even and made an Easter Bunny with our footprint
I would encourage you to watch this video link as we approach this
season of remembrance of all He has done for our ultimate joy in Him.
  Do you know Him?

I want.....I need...

Kaitlyn has quite the vocabulary. She is such a cutie and I love to just sit and let her jabber. Lately, everything has been "Mommy, I need this...."From cookies to toys, a coke, or my lipstick....instead of the word want she uses the word need. When she says "I need candy"-I know that although she may want it, that is the last thing she needs before bedtime.
Her mix-up of words has got me thinking.....
How much more does God look down at me and say
"Sommer, I know you say you need this, but it's not what you need."
My prayer is to be God-centered; desiring His will over my own. A verse from a song we sang at church this morning will be my prayer this week.
"Break my heart for what breaks yours,
everything I have for the kingdom's cause"
My greatest joy will be in trusting that what God allows and cause's in my life is for His glory.

Isaiah 45:18" For this is what the LORD says—  he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it;  he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited— he says: I am the LORD, and there is no other."
We made a thumb-print caterpillar and a caterpillar chain and played a caterpillar color matching game

God Made ME!!

If you have been to my house for a play date, you know I love crafts :)
I have been pondering for awhile how to make one-on-one playtime with Kaitlyn meaningful. I have seen several mommy's who have muffin tin monday or themed days.
It looks like they have so much fun with their little one.
Well, here is my attempt to live out Deuteronomy 11:19. To teach Kaitlyn about how BIG God is in our everyday lives. I'd love for you to join me as we learn that God Made Me and all about the others things God Made.....

Photobucket
Look out for our first God Made ME! post.....

Cori's 30th Suprise!!!

We (tried) to suprise my BFF Cori with a trip to Vegas for her 30th birthday. We had been planning for months when about 2 weeks ago she began with questions! Questions, questions...this girl wanted to know it all!!

You have heard me talk about my sweet friend Cori here and here.
This is a friendship that I truly see the hand of God in.

About 4 years ago we met Jeff and Cori at a local park one Sunday afternoon. Little did we know, this couple lived just one block down the street from us! Jeff and Chris immediatly hit it off since both of them are A&M graduates. At the time, Jeff and Cori were dating!

We have seen eachother through thier wedding, the birth of thier Son Brady, Kaitlyn's arrival, family trips, Aggie games, parties, church groups....you name it, we have shared it together.

Of course we were so sad to see our friends move to San Angelo last year, but our friendship has not missed a beat. If anything, I think our bond has grown stronger as each time we meet up is so much more meaningful.

We had such a great time this past weekend in Vegas with our best friends! Flight to Vegas, dinner overlooking the strip, breakfast birthday cupcakes, La Reve, a morning at the spa; just the girls, appetizers with a beautiful view of the Bellagio fountains, singing at the top of our lungs at the piano bar at NY NY....whew! what a great weekend!

It's Madness,,,

MARCH MADNESS
Tonight Chris helped Kaitlyn pick her bracket for the upcoming
NCAA games.
It was so cute watching him cut out all the logos and let her choose her favorite team.
My hubbie is such a cutie!
He held up each team logo and Kaitlyn carefully chose the winner.
And boy was he excited when she chose the AGGIES!!
We all did a little jig!
Here's to week nights that are so special with our little blessing!
Dad is certain Kaitlyn is going to win big!
