Fun with Friends!

Our night on the town with friends @ Summer Mummers.
Popcorn! Popcorn! Popcorn!!!

Learning the Letter B

I saw something this week that made me realize I am not near thankful enough....

For the Letter B we learned the verse from 1 Thessalonians 5:18 "Be thankful in all things"
This verse allowed us to continue working with Kaitlyn on praying to God and not only did we Ask God for things, but we Thanked Him for things too!
We did our handwriting sheet for the letter B and learned that BIBLE starts with B.
We watched lots of youtube videos of kids singing the B-I-B-L-E song.
Here is Kaitlyn's debut...

Kaitlyn has been asking for several weeks if she can have a BIG bible.
We went to pick her out a snazzy cover for her new Bible!

Here is my attempt at a Letter B snack; a fruit loop Butterfly
And our Bee footprint

And lastly, the 5 things Kaitlyn said she was thankful for this week.

1. The world
2. Balloons
3. My mommy
4. I Love you cards.
5. Crayons

And then she runs back...mom I forgot to say Jackson!
On to letter C......

Funny Story...Letter B

I have to document this so it makes it in the blogbook. I am working from the blurb.com website. Has anyone tried this?

Kaitlyn and I have been working on the Letter B this week so Monday while out running errands we searched road signs for Letter B's. We found Barnes & Nobles and Best Buy. She got so excited..."Look mom 2 B's!!!!"

And then Kaitlyn says, "Mom, let's look for the letter 7". Now Kaitlyn confuses the term letter and number quite often....and now she has days, years, and months all confused too. She told me yesterday, remember last year (which was yesterday) when we had a Popsicle?

So anyway, I respond, "Well, honey 7 is a number not a letter so we wont' find the letter 7". And immediatly she says "Look mom!! It's a letter 7!!!!!"

Darn you 7-11 gas station.......You made mommy a liar.

So it doesn't have to all be perfect??

I just needed to remember this today....
I was just telling my BFF Jordan that with 2 kiddos I really feel that my time is stretched.

Throw in the mix trying to keep the house clean and laundry done and sometimes I look like a tornado running around trying to make everthing perfect.

Sometimes I just need to sit and play barbies...

Happy Monday!!

Learning the Letter A

To complete our week of Letter "A" we continued memorizing our bible verse Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you." I didn't know if we were ready for memorizing, but Little Miss has this down!

I can't count how many times this week Kaitlyn and I were able to talk to Jesus about our problems. We prayed for hurt fingers and lost toys, and daddy to come home safe, Jackson's nose to stop running, Jesus to keep us safe at night, we even prayed for her imaginary friends. :)

Kaitlyn prayed one night that she would forgive me. Nothing like your little one telling you...mommy I forbive (forgive) you after she has gotten into trouble. Ha!

We also learned about being in  the Lord's Army. I taught Kaitlyn the fun song that about putting on the Armor of God.

I almost peed my pants the first time we sang it together. Some of her renditions are :

Mommy: I am a Christian
Kaitlyn: I went a fishing

Mommy:And above all
Kaitlyn: I'm in a bubble

On to Letter B.................

My heart jumped!

Be still my heart....
I ordered this as soon as I saw it. This is my heartbeat!

God has me in such a season in my life that I know my calling is clear.  I would eat rice and beans the rest of my life just to be the mommy God has called me to be. Thank you Lord for my precious babies, what an absolute blessing and joy to be their mom.

I may be broker than a joke....

.....but I am sure enjoying the view!

So thankful that after much prayer and budget planning, I have cut back my working hours to Tues/Thurs 9-2 to be at home with my little one's more!!
And I kid, I am not broker than a joke...God has been so faithful and blessed us tremendously!

Fun Recipe with your Kiddo!

My mom had Chris' family and our family over for hamburgers Saturday night and I was in charge of dessert
I found a fun recipe for Kaitlyn and I to make together.
We "decorated" as Kaitlyn says,  a fruit pizza. So fun!!

This recipe has a sugar cookie crust, whip cream/sugar/cream cheese/and vanilla sauce and fruit toppings
First things first, a cute apron and snazzy utensils are required :)
Roll the cookie dough onto a baking sheet as cook as directed.
The hardest part is entertaining a 3 year old while the cookie cools.
The sauce was 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, 1/3 c. sugar, 1/2 tsp. vanilla, and 1/2 tub of cool whip.
Spread sauce on cooled cookie.
Next add whatever fruit you want
 Yummmmmm......

So fun cooking in the kitchen with you KK!

Ask....

Kaitlyn is such a smart cookie and LOVES learning! She has been very eager to learn her letters and just the little bit Chris and I have worked with her this past week she can pick out the letters a C, S, K and J (all our first initials). I decided to work with her this summer on letters....so naturally we started this week with "A".

We did a couple of handwriting pages and when our sheet said A is for apple...she immediatly said "Adam and Eve" (love that!!!!) Now I know it was a fruit....but her bible stories say apple so we are going with it :)
God has been pruning away at my heart on the calling we have as parents to exemplify Christ to our children. No better time to live out Deuteronomy 11:19 then now...so Kaitlyn and are going to work on a scripture for the each of the letter we learn. Our scripture for letter A is Matthew 7:7

Kaitlyn and I talked about how we can ask God for things when we pray. So I gave her some examples...."God, I ask you to please not make me scared when I sleep in my big girl bed" or "God, I ask that you  keep Daddy safe when he goes on his trip this week" and she chimed in..."and God I ask that you please let the Aggies win" (HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Oh me, oh my!!! The Ag's are down by 4 right now, so I hope (and Daddy hopes) this little girls prayers work. I love experiencing the innocence and heart of a child!

Little Miss Priss

I cleaned out my closet this week. Quite a chore! I have every size imaginable in that dungeon! Luckily since having Jackson I was at pre-pregnancy weight at my first check-up appointment. But....there are those outfits...you know the ones...the outfits you wore decades ago that you just know you will fit into someday. Well, I gave those the boot this week. I had hung onto them so long they aren't in style anymore.

As I made a pile (what Kaitlyn calls a mess) in my closet floor of outfits too small for me, Kaitlyn says "Ahhh (as if she's frustrated), okay mom I'll wear them if they are too little for you". Little did I know she had already threw together a snazzy outfit for herself!
I adore you my Little Miss Priss!

Praying God's Word:June

I am 6 months into having weekly scriptures posted in my kitchen to read and pray over
My Precious Family.
Loving it!!!
Week 1: Psalm 86:11
'"Teach me your ways Oh Lord. I will walk in your truth. Give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name. "

Week 2: Hebrews 4:16
"Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. "

Week 3: Ephesians 4:29
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs-that is may benefit those who listen. "

Week 4: Titus 2: 11-13
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.  It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,  while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sister!!!

Kaitlyn is mastering how to be a great Big Sister!
She is our entertainment and I love watching Jackson's eyes light up when she enters the room.
