Tuesdays Treasure

2 Corinthians 4:7
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us”
I came across a scripture and a devo that has inspired me to write about the broken places in my life that God’s glory has shown through. I want to call them Tuesday’s Treasure. I want to attempt to blog about a little nugget of goodness that God has placed on my heart each week. Paul tells us that each believer is a jar of clay that has a treasure inside. When we look through scripture, we can see that we contain peace (Philippians 4:7), the forgiveness of sins, redemption, the riches of God's grace (Ephesians 1:7), joy (John 15:11) and the resurrection power of Christ (Philippians 3:10). I feel like there are so many people in my life that feel like a broken vessel. People are suffering because of the loss of a job or a financial crisis, loneliness because of the loss of a loved one, depression because they are having difficulties having a child. As believers in Christ, God is with us in every situation-even the toughies-and He is longing to pour out a little bit of Him in our broken areas. God CAN be revealed through our brokenness. We have to hold on to His promise that our brokenness is not wasted (everything is used to display His glory.) The broken pieces of our life are what allow His spirit to do works of perseverance, character, and hope. (Roman 5:3-5) Lord, we thank you for the unexpected treasures we find in our brokenness.

Will I ever wear the apron??

We had such a great weekend! We started off Friday night with the whole fam over at our house to grill out. I think Kaitlyn liked the corn daddy did on the grill!

Chris is getting ridiculously good on the grill, so I decided to take my shot at Larry's famous beans. I've watched him make them several times, so I braved the 13 ingredients and hoped for the best. I put the beans on at 12:30...and at 8:00 that night they STILL were not done. I was so disappointed. Someone mentioned something about how Midland's hard water could have attributed, but I actually think I am cursed! HA! I am not sure if I will ever come out of all the kitchen disasters I have had. I think it all started when I put dawn dish washing soap in the dishwasher my first week in College Station, continued when Chris and I decided the "broil" button was the best setting to keep pizza in pizza boxes warm (yep, caught them on fire), and the list just continues. Fun times!

Saturday, our best friends Jeff & Cori were in town and the kids came over to play. Brady and Kaitlyn are finally about each other's size and are so adorable to watch. Brady calls her "Clayton". :)

We headed over to some friends house late afternoon for a swim party. Kaitlyn had a blast splashing all the other kids. Thanks Uncle Steve-O for swimming with me!

Later that night, Jeff, Cori, Chris and I all headed out for "couple" time and ate dinner at Cancun Grill downtown. If you haven't been there, it is sooo good! Now that the Stewarts are in San Angelo we sure treasure our moments together. We laughed so hard my stomach hurt. Oh what a blessed life we live!

Playing In The Rain

My sweet friend Rachel took some great pics of Kaitlyn in the rain.
It was literally sprinkling on us as she was taking the pictures.
How fun!

Our Family Grew!

Our family grew over the weekend. Brian, Chris' brother had a beautiful wedding at a bed and breakfast in San Antonio. We added Jane, and her two girls Sydni and Jamye to our family!
(think I am spelling those correct) Kaitlyn is super excited about having the two girls around and Chris and I are so happy that Brian has found someone to take care of him! HA! :)

Sea World Fireworks!

We braved the heat and spent the 4th at Sea World!
It was so fun to watch Kaitlyn's reactions to the animals.
She didn't much care for the firework show they put on that night, but it was spectacular!!

San Antonio Trip:Childrens Museum

We had such a great time in San Antonio over the weekend! I think my favorite part was taking Kaitlyn to the Children's Musuem. I might have had more fun than she did. We played with bubbles, climbed a tree house, went in an airplane, shopped in a market...you have to take your kiddos!!<
